  • Profile photo (optional, uploaded by you)
  • Encrypted password (we never store passwords in plain text)

Health & Food Data

  • Food photos you choose to scan or upload
  • AI-generated nutritional analysis results (sugar content, calories, macros, health score)
  • Your food log entries, including meal type, timestamps, and portion context
  • Your daily sugar limit goal and health goals (e.g., manage diabetes, lose weight)
  • Streak and achievement data

Usage & Device Data

  • Notification preferences and reminder times
  • App usage patterns (screens visited, features used) — collected anonymously
  • Device timezone (to correctly calculate your daily stats)

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, operate, and improve the Service
  • Analyze food photos using AI (Google Gemini) to generate nutritional information
  • Sync your food logs, achievements, and stats across devices
  • Send you meal reminders, streak alerts, and weekly recap notifications (only if you enable them)
  • Process in-app purchases and manage your subscription via RevenueCat and the App Store
  • Respond to your support requests
  • Comply with legal obligations

4. AI-Powered Food Analysis

When you scan food, your photo is sent securely to our backend server, which forwards it to Google Gemini (an AI service by Google LLC) for analysis. We do not share your account identity with Google during this process — only the image and contextual prompt are transmitted.

Food photos are stored on our servers to display them alongside your log entries. You may delete individual log entries at any time, which removes the associated image.

AI analysis results are estimates and should not be used as a substitute for professional medical or dietary advice.

5. Health Data

Sweet Not Sugar collects health-related information such as sugar intake, dietary goals, and nutritional data. This information is:

  • Stored securely on our servers and on your device
  • Used solely to provide the core functionality of the app
  • Never sold to third parties
  • Never used for advertising or marketing purposes

We do not connect to Apple Health, Google Fit, or any other health platform unless explicitly requested and enabled by you in a future update.

6. Data Sharing & Third Parties

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with the following service providers, strictly to operate the Service:

  • Google LLC (Gemini API) — AI food analysis. Images are sent for processing and are subject to Google's data use policies.
  • RevenueCat, Inc. — Subscription management and in-app purchase processing.
  • Apple Inc. / Google LLC — App Store payment processing.

Each third-party service has its own privacy policy. We encourage you to review them.

7. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data by contacting us at hello@sweetnotsugar.com.

Upon deletion, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

8. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS), encrypted password storage, and access controls on our backend systems.

However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.

9. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or 16 in the European Economic Area). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
